The Espresso theme seems to lack any kind of top level navigation menu on mobile breakpoints - it exists in the footer only.

This would no doubt improve engagement for sites using this theme.

Hey there Tom Millson, I think that you're talking about Fortitude theme here as you have that one installed currently :)
There is actually a top menu on it also, it's just not visible for you at the moment because you are using white background and hamburger menu item is also white so it's not visible. See picture. 
You can change the color of your hamburger menu to black for example so it becomes visible on mobile :)
