Ability to Sell Digital Downloads
complete
Lindsey Eder
Ability to sell one-time digital downloads that are not a subscription but a one-time purchase that would not require the customer to input their shipping address. Currently the options to set this up on a bulky would be a one time purchase (requiring shipping address which is confusing to a customer) or the digital subscription membership (which has language about about it being a recurring payment which, while I could stop the recurring payment on my end, the language at checkout is confusing to a customer. This would be a great way to start people off with a low commitment purchase early on in the customer journey and work them through the funnel to eventually subscribe to the box and would be a great way to upsell current customers.

Hey just wanted to visit this again, because it was marked as complete, but the solution actually doesn't address the need at all. The "content feed" was offered as a way to sell digital products, but unless it's a SUBSCRIPTION this actually doesn't even work. I now have a very complicated automation process in place to manage digital one-time products, this needs to be way simplified, and the "content feed" is not an elegant solution, nor does it actually work for one-time products.

The Content feed feature was recently introduced. Please, read more here –> https://feedback.subbly.co/changelog/a-new-way-to-engage-your-subscribers-digital-content

Andy🤠: So, this is absolutely NOT complete! This new feature is not really what we were asking for, at all. Please revisit! I don't see how this would be useful for offering digital (PDF) goods for purchase on Subbly. This does not do that.

Shonna Lemke: Setting up PDFs on content feed is possible, it needs to be through https://www.commoninja.com/.
Please check with the support team and they will help provide guidelines on how to do that.

Andrija Krstic: Hi Andrija, I think you were the one that told me recently that you couldn't use the content feed for one-time purchases, only subscriptions! And, going through a third-party plug in is just cumbersome. Even if you could use the content feed for one-time purchase PDFs, that's not how customers want the information delivered. We need a better solution for digital sales of one-time PDFs, currently it's very cumbersome.
Andrija Krstic
Shonna Lemke: Yes, that's correct. Content feed only works for subscriptions as of now and we will add the possibility for this to be used with one times as well. That's a fair point, thanks.
In regards to using third parties, this is only a tool for compressing the actual PDF so it is available for download, it's not a big deal really and there's no extra cost to using that.

We REALLY need the option to be able to sell digital items without a clunky "automation" setup. Currently managing two different shopping carts on two different platforms, would love to move everything over to Subbly.

Agree. Also to be able to create that one-time digital product with a set up option box to tick as 'free shipping', in order to override the shipping price being added on at checkout. Something I tried to set up and couldn't work a way around it without subscribers having access to free shipping in the cart.
I've now had to open another shopify store to get the cart functionality and immediate download available at checkout. (FYI the shopify digital download app is the one I use).
Would LOVE to do this in fabulous Subbly, free pdfs and digital content are a fabulous lead magnet! :) :)

Carmela Payne: Did you end up using Shopify's app for this? Did you check recently introduced Content Feed?

Andy🤠: yes plleeeasssee!! do we have any rough idea on timeline? I'm considering having a secondary site to sell my digital products
Andy🤠
Lindsey Eder: Not for now. It definitely makes sense, though it is not planned yet.
