Andrija Krstic - Is it possible to turn this off? I want people to be able to give a gift but NOT be able to include a message.

Branden Harvey: As you can see, this has been added as per the popular request by the customers here, it's not able for us to make it optional or to remove it on the checkout.
For your information, even if they DO add a gift message on the checkout (which you don't want them to be able to do) it still doesn't mean anything as it won't appear really anything except on your order slip. When you're packing/sending the order it's not something that you can or need to include in the shipment/box/magazine.

Andrija Krstic: Is it possible for me to be able to alter the wording of that page to say that the message won't be included in the shipment?
People are going through the checkout process and leaving very deep and thoughtful gift messages — with the expectation that they will be seen by their recipient. They won't be. It's not possible for the way we ship.
So having this option is setting bad expectations and setting up my new subscribers for disappointment.

Branden Harvey: Not at present unfortunatly as the checkout fileds are hardcoded but we might be able to look into it for the future. I can see that you already created a separate feature request for this.

This is now possible as we added the COMMENT option if the GIFTING option is enabled.

Hey Daniel Lee, thanks for submitting this. You can achieve this already by utilizing survey builder and adding a text question that will require from your customers to add a text or a note if they want to. Let me know if you need help with working this out.

Andrija Krstic: How does this work in the checkout process? I could only make it work at the beginning of the checkout process. Ideally it should show up when someone toggles the "this is a gift" button.
Andrija Krstic
Roast Scout: Hey Jeremy, you're correct. My workaround works only at the beginning of the checkout process where survey is invoked before the actual step where they choose whether it's a gift or not. Whole idea is to offer option for the customer to possibly write a gift note IF he will be checking out as a gift. If not, they can just skip that question on the survey.
I understand that ideally this would be an option only after someone checked the ''this is a gift'' option on the checkout but we're not currently able to implement this for numerous reasons.
However, we are already considering switching the entire gifting logic and moving on to the gift voucher functionality so this would solve the problem perhaps.
